There is no denying that the budget is one of the most important aspects of a renovation project. Sure, there are a lot of other factors that come into play, but we can never let our expenses out of our sight, otherwise we risk going well over the initial budget and then, two things may happen: we will have to pay a lot more than we expected or we will find ourselves with a half-finished project.
Nevertheless, a limited budget does not mean that we have to forget about design or good quality materials. Lucky for us, there are materials such as granite, which offer a wide range of options both in style and price, so we can choose the one that fits our interests best. If we want unique and luxurious but cheap granite, we can have it.
And why there is such a price difference between different granites if they are the same kind of stone? Well, its price depends on a few important aspects:
1) Location: where the quarry is located will have an impact on the price. For example, if a material is quarried at the top of a mountain, it will be more expensive than if it is done at ground level.
2) Availability: just like materials such as gold and silver, granite is a natural product, which means it is limited and can’t be man-made. The less there is left on earth, the more the stone will cost.
3) Consistency: due to its characteristics, each granite block quarried is unique, and not all of them are usable. Some blocks can be used in its entirety, but with others only a percentage as low as 25% of the block can be put to good use. This will obviously increase a great deal the final price of the stone.
Having all of this in mind, we have put together a list of cheap granite from different sources for different kinds of projects. We are confident it will come handy:
